Review of Understanding LED Illumination by Dr. M. Nisa Khan

Available at Amazon.com: Understanding LED Illumination

The book Understanding LED Illumination provides a very broad look at the subject of LED lighting. There are sections on lighting history, lamp simulation, packaging, human interaction issues, light intensity measurement, energy efficiency, LED vs. fluorescent, etc. In one way or another, it will appeal to just about any engineer involved with LED design. The book is extremely well illustrated.

The book contains about 20 pages on the subject of thermal management. Dr. Khan is a user of the Sauna thermal analysis program and the book contains example studies based on Sauna simulations. If you are a Sauna user, you are sure to recognize the distinctive graphics from page 75 of the book:

However, please be aware that thermal management is just one part of the book. The book is a reference for LED lighting technology, not a how-to guide for thermal management.

Although many technical books are quite expensive, Understanding LED Illumination can be purchased for just US$ 70.

This book is recommended by Thermal Solutions for any Sauna user involved with LED analysis. And, more broadly, the book is an excellent choice for any engineer involved in LED design or manufacturing.
